The Stops

1. Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie Start early: the 6:30 Mass in the old church is an experience.
2. Capuchin Friary: the Cell and the Crucifix The cell and the Crucifix: the most intimate part of the visit.
3. Church of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (Renzo Piano) Inside, go down to the lower church among the golden mosaics.
4. Tomb of Saint Pio The heart of the day. On feast days allow for a wait.
5. Monumental Way of the Cross A good half-hour meditative climb: in summer avoid the middle of the day.
6. Historic Centre Lunch break and a stroll through the alleys: this is the town's beating heart.
7. Mother Church of Saint Leonard the Abbot The old town's mother church, far from the big crowds.
8. Rotunda of Saint John the Baptist Finish in front of the round church that gave the town its name.
